곰브리치 세계사 Book Review 2026/07/02 (PART 1)

This book is a collection of the world’s history, from Sparta and Athena, to how the calendar was made, and more. I only read the first half of the book so far, but it is in chronological order, with lots of detail involved.

To shrink this book into one sentence, it is “a collection of the world’s history shortened, while keeping all the detail”. I think the reason why this book was created is to create awareness of our past, for academics and as a reminder to not make our past mistakes again.

If it was me, I would have split this book into numerous parts (a separate book), so that people would have more ease separating segments that they want to deeply investigate and learn about. It would also help with convenience to carry the book with them.

I think that some parts of this book is inference and opinions, which makes this book not one hundred percent accurate. However, history is not always perfect, and that is completely reasonable. 

I think this book is very reasonable and understandable, as it contains information, and evidence to back it up, that doesn’t overlap and makes complete sense. I agree with all the parts in this book. 

I think that this book should be widely recognized for its information and the depth of it. Other history books may have the same information, but the way that it is organized in this book is unmatched.
