This book was a real roller-coaster of emotions. Apollo gets infected by zombies, then he almost dies, heals, almost dies again, kills an emperor with his voice, then almost dies, watches as Frank almost dies, then sees him back with only his underpants. WOW. And I skipped a lot of it as well. (The review, not the book)
My favorite parts are when every time Apollo nearly dies, he has a habit of going insane, and talking to the Arrow of Dodona. I also like how the Arrow of Dodona says to Apollo, “HANG ON!”
This book had a new evil character, called Tarquin. He is an undead Roman king from centuries ago, and can control the undead. That’s how he made Apollo where Ella and Tyson were. But he still didn’t go far.
I was confused when Apollo asked Reyna to be his girlfriend, and then I was relieved to hear that Reyna was laughing and teasing him, because there are enough couples in the series. There’s Percy and Annabeth, Frank and Hazel, Ella and Tyson, Leo and Calypso, and more, I think.
Personally, I give this book a 9/10, because I didn’t enjoy some parts of it, but overall, it’s a solid Rick Riordan book. 👍
