Jacob I Have Loved Book Review 2025/09/21

It’s been a while since I read something other than Rick Riordan. That is why I am changing my tone for this Book Review, so people will think I am serious and usually behaved like a respectable and formal student with high etiquette.

This novel was set in Chesapeake Bay island during the 1940s, and the novel follows Louise Bradshaw, who’s constantly overshadowed by her fragile but adored twin sister, Caroline. Louise wants freedom, while Caroline gets treated like a queen in Music. (That’s why I despise music. What’s the point?)

Louise struggles with jealousy, feeling discarded by her family and overlooked by everyone. She dreams of escaping the island, of living a bigger life, but feels chained by duty and resentment. Finally, she leaves, builds her own path as a nurse-midwife, and finally finds independence and a sense of self-worth.

This book was a lot more serious, so I don’t really have a favorite part in the book, as I am accustomed to historical fiction books rather than Literary Classics. (Is this a classic novel?)
